On an Unhurried Walk

Dog Trainer Auckland

December 31, 2024

1 Tip - on life with your dog

An unhurried walk where you let your dog spend time in the environment is very rewarding. If they pull forward, let the lead go tight; ease it, but do not move forward. It is a way to communicate; let's work together to find a comfortable pace. Your dog will relax, and the walk will become more companionable. This also works when they want to go somewhere you don’t. Take your time; patience is always your friend when training your dog.

Positive reinforcement training is a science based technique which involves rewarding the behaviour you want. It is a proven, effective method for behaviour change. It is also a compassionate and secure way for your dog to succeed.
