On dogs and toddlers

1 Tip - on life with your dog

Toddlers and dogs can be a challenging combination, unruly, hilarious, but also fraught with risk and disaster. Toddlers move erratically, have yet to master their grip and can be unpredictable for your dog.

These simple rules will help:

- Supervise or separate (for the parent)
- Leave a dog (or cat) when eating or resting (for everyone)
- Don't pressure a dog into photos (for the parent)
- Don't use the dog to lift yourself up (for the toddler)
- Use and teach a one handed cuddle = a slow stroke, neck to back (for everyone)

1 Idea - on the leading edge

- Supervise grizzle points in your house, where your dog is restricted. It could be between the couch and coffee table, in doorways, stairs and hallways. These areas can be stressful for your dog to navigate with a toddler around.
- Install baby gates to provide your dog with a quiet place to rest and keep toys separate, avoiding ownership issues.
