On engaging with your dog

1 Tip - on life with your dog
The more you genuinely engage with your dog, the more their well-being will improve and the calmer they'll be. I don't mean hanging out and watching TV; I mean engaging in activities your dog would choose, such as a short game of tug, a "find it" session, a gentle stroke, or simply relaxing together on the lawn. By spending real time with your dog, you'll discover their individual preferences, and by observing their body language, you can create a genuine relationship. And that leads to a calmer, more balanced dog.
1 Idea - on the leading edge
Generalisation: Dogs do not generalise easily; they need to practice the same skill in different locations so they understand the skill and not, ‘This is what I do in the kitchen’ but rather 'This is what I always do.' Practice new skills regularly and everywhere in short 5-minute sessions.
1 Quote - on dogs
Good training is not about controlling your dog’s behaviour; it’s about teaching your dog to function successfully in your home and in human environments in general. Unleashing your dog. Bekoff & Pierce
