Always provide your dog with a large, fresh bowl of water each day, regardless of the weather. Studies show that dogs can tell the difference between fresh and stale water, and they prefer fresh water.
1 Idea - on the leading edge
The accepted standards of care for all animals, including dogs, are well established affirming an animal's right to humane treatment. The mainstream model, called the Five Domains model, assesses an animal's welfare according to:
Nutrition: The animal's diet and access to fresh water.
Environment: The animal's living space and access to outdoor areas.
Health: The animal's physical health, including disease prevention and treatment.
Behavior: The animal's ability to express normal behaviors.
Mental state: The animal's psychological well-being, including its feelings and experiences.
This surpasses the original model, the Five Freedoms, which is enshrined in the NZ Animal Welfare Act 1999.
