On setting your dog up to succeed

1 Tip - on life with your dog
To help your dog succeed, dog-proof your house by picking up clothing, putting away anything they might chew and providing a variety of chew toys to redirect that desire. Clear the bench of any leftovers, and ensure the front door and side gate are kept shut. Focusing on the behaviours you like and ignoring your dog when they make mistakes (they will!) makes it easier for them to succeed. Using a gentle tone helps, too!
1 Idea - on the leading edge
Beyond treats and toys, there are many other ways to reward your dog. Try sniffing in interesting spots, letting your dog sniff the shopping bags you've brought home, chasing in the park with dog friends, or snoozing in that sunny garden spot. These are opportunities to reward your dog intrinsically. Ask for a behaviour, 'sit' or 'touch', then reward them with access to that sunny garden spot or a sniffy walk. It's about turning everyday moments into rewards, one sniff or run at a time.
1 Quote - on dogs
Success in training your dog is largely avoiding failures.
Calm is crossing the street to avoid the oncoming dog.
Relaxed is the lick mat after the walk.
Peace is closing the curtains.
Avoid the bad to protect the good. James Clear (Edited concept).
