1 Tip - on life with your dog
A calm dog on walks starts at home.
Put their lead on, go to the door.
Slowly open the door. If your dog rushes, close it.
Gradually open the door more, that's the reward for not rushing it.
Practice.
1 Idea - on the leading edge
Dogs learn by observation, association or by consequence.
Learning by Association. If two things happen together, a dog learns the second thing follows the first. They don't need to do anything.
E.g. Picking up the lead means going for a walk.
Learning by Consequence. A dog's actions dictates what happens next. If it's good the dog will repeat that behavior.
E.g. The dog gets a treat for coming when called, they're more likely to come next time.
