1 Tip - on life with your dog
Does your dog get anxious when you leave home? Try leaving an enrichment activity as you leave, a long-lasting chew, a treasure hunt of treats, or a food-in-a-box game. Your dog will be busy with the activity, and your departure will be less stressful.
1 Idea - on the leading edge
When a dog is regularly left alone for long periods, they can become stressed or bored, which is often when destructive behaviour occurs. An enrichment activity works because it gives your dog something more rewarding to focus on than your departure. Activities that involve sniffing, chewing, foraging, shredding, or problem-solving provide mental stimulation and are natural behaviours. For dogs that become bored or destructive when left alone, provide an activity that meets those needs in a constructive way. A shredding game, for example, gives a dog a safe outlet for tearing and ripping, reducing the likelihood they'll destroy your cushions or shoes.
1 Quote - on dogs
Humankind is drawn to dogs because they are so like us, bumbling, affectionate, confused, easily disappointed, eager to be amused, grateful for kindness and the least attention. Patricia McConnell, The Other End of the Leash
