On Your Dog Eating Chocolate

1 Tip - on life with your dog

Dogs love food - and chocolate… unfortunately, chocolate doesn't love them back. It's toxic to dogs, so put your stash somewhere safe and well out of reach. If your dog does get into it, call your vet straight away — depending on the size of your dog and the amount they've consumed, it can have serious effects and need veterinary care. Keep your vet's number saved in your phone so it's always close at hand when you need it.

1 Idea - on the leading edge

It's not just chocolate that's toxic; other foods to watch out for are grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, avocado, and xylitol (an artificial sweetener found in sugar-free gum and some peanut butters). These are all toxic to dogs. A good habit is to check before you share. When in doubt, leave it out.

1 Quote - on dogs
