On saying 'No'

1 Tip - on life with your dog

If you notice yourself saying “no” to your pup again and again, try replacing it with something like “uh-oh,” saying it in a calm tone. Then show them the behaviour you want and reward them for getting it right. This way it's clearer for your dog, and they learns more easily because you’re showing them what to do, not scolding them for what you don't want them to do.

1 Idea - on the leading edge

Dogs are not naughty and do not have a sense of right and wrong — their behaviour is simply a matter of information. When we remove our own frustration and focus on guidance, we become better teachers. Learning happens fastest in a calm, predictable environment where dogs are shown what works for them, rather than being told what doesn’t.
