1 Tip - on life with your dog
Here's a great question I received from last week's email:
"When you say 'reward', do you mean food... or is a pat enough? I don't like feeding all the time."
A reward is anything your dog values in that moment. Food works best for new behaviours; it's clear and motivating. Once a behaviour is known, praise, a toy, a game or a pat can absolutely maintain it. Read your dog: if they come back for more, it's working.
1 Idea - to think about
To avoid your dog eating extra calories, use a portion of their daily food as rewards. Same food, same amount, delivered on their walk. Training and enrichment in one. Win/win!
